Government proposes reforms to the process for debtor bankruptcy petitions

On October 9th 2012 the government announced proposed changes to make it easier for an individual to make himself bankrupt. The proposals remove the court from the process, which will become an administrative one. The decision to make a debtor bankrupt on his own application will instead be made by an adjudicator, a role that is likely to form part of the Insolvency Service.
